Fire Reignited

11 May

I was moved last night. I walked into a room and the presence of God was so strong that tears started streaming from my eyes.  Fifteen people were inside that room singing worship songs and praying.  I felt a mixture of things as I sat down to join them.  I felt the remnants of anxiety that I had brought with me there and which has been my companion for a while.  The kind of nagging anxiety that keeps you from feeling at peace because you have things to do and it slowly eats away at you.  I closed my eyes and started to pray. I felt peace trickling into me along with love, comfort, forgiveness, and the presence of holiness.  With tears silently running down my face, I prayed and I listened.  The presence of the Holy Spirit felt even stronger, I could literally feel someone touching my arm in an embrace.  I needed this. I was thanking God for putting it in my heart to come to that house and worship Him.

Over the course of the hour that I prayed and worshiped, I was moved by the prayers that others boldly spoke out for all of us to hear. I was moved by their passion and the fire in their hearts for the Lord.  I was moved by the music and the comfort that it brought me.  I was moved by God’s word when I opened my bible and read Acts 17:27-28, “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him – though he is not far from any one of us.  For in him we live and move and exist.”

I felt renewed, refreshed, restored, purified, and rekindled.  I had been missing that passion for him.  The passion that comes from keeping in the forefront of your mind and overflowing from your heart that in him you live, in him you move, and in him you exist.  God is not distant; once you give your heart to Him, he resides there. When you talk to Him, he is listening and he is carrying out your requests.

He is always waiting with open arms and unfailing love for us to give our hearts to Him. Whether for the first time or after a time that we have turned away from Him.  He is there. He is waiting. With arms open and compassion in his heart.

“But then I will win her back once again.
I will lead her into the desert
and speak tenderly to her there.
I will return her vineyards to her
and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.”   Hosea 2:14-15

Thank you Lord for reigniting the fire in my heart for you.  For healing me last night. Thank you for being my constant rock and salvation. Thank you for showing me your love and letting me feel your presence.  Thank you for speaking to me. Thank you for being my hope, my love, and my everything.

A Woman Often Overlooked

15 Nov

One of my girlfriends brought to my attention yesterday the story of a woman that we had both read about.  She was sick for 12 years and had spent all of her money trying to find a doctor who could cure her.  I hadn’t really given much thought to her story when I had read about it.  But the artist Nicole C Mullen wrote a song about her called “One Touch”.  Here is a live performance of the song:

This woman was healed by her faith in Jesus Christ. This is her story recorded in Mark 5:24-34:

Jesus went with him, and all the people followed, crowding around him. A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.
Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”
His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?'”
But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”

This woman had such faith. I am so glad that I now realize the significance of her act of faith.  She believed and she was healed.

Get better quick…

25 Oct

So I had a cold this weekend that came on out of nowhere on Thursday evening and had me very uncomfortable through Saturday. But great thing is I was feeling a lot better by Sunday and today I am almost 100%.  So thought I would share a couple of get-over-your-cold-quick tips.

1. Hot tea. Preferably a Cold & Flu or Detox tea that you can get at most health food stores.  But don’t stop with just putting a tea bag in some hot water.  We make a super potent tea using this recipe:

fresh ginger

cinnamon sticks (2 0r 3)

fresh lime

Cold & Flu or Detox tea bag

-Cut up fresh ginger into little pieces (about a 1 inch piece of ginger is good).

-Put about 2 cups water in a pot. Add the ginger pieces.

-Cut up the lime and squeeze all the juice into the water

-Drop in the cinnamon sticks

-Add in some honey (I put several tablespoons)

-Bring the water to a low boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes

-Use a strainer to pour the healing mixture into a big cup.

-Add a tea bag, cover, and let steep for ten minutes

2. Neti pot (looks like a little tea pot: You can find them at health food stores usually)

-This little pot does wonders for your sinuses. You heat up some purified water to lukewarm, add 1 teaspoon of sea salt and then put the sea salt water in the pot, lean over the sink, tilt your head to the side and put the spout to one nostril. The water will run through your sinuses and come out of the other nostril  (This does take some practice to get the angle of your head just right, but I figured it out quick the first time). I know, it sounds strange, and it does take some getting use to the first time you do it, but you will heal so much faster because it eliminates any infected mucus from your sinuses and the salt fights off the infection.

Here is a picture of a neti pot:

3. Emergen-C.

-Vitamin C and other vitamins are what most doctors will tell you is important for boosting your immune system.

So, that is my arsenal for colds:  Homemade Super Cold-fighting tea, the Neti pot, and Emergen-C.  Hope that you don’t get sick this winter season, but if you do maybe one or all of these tips will help you get better fast!

Oh, and how could I almost forget to say! My number one illness fighting strategy is prayer for healing.  I ask God for his healing powers to restore my health and thank Him for all he does for me!

Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God,
for your sins have brought you down.
Bring your confessions, and return to the LORD.
Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.
Assyria cannot save us,
nor can our warhorses.
Never again will we say to the idols we have made,
‘You are our gods.’
No, in you alone
do the orphans find mercy.”

The LORD says,
“Then I will heal you of your faithlessness;
my love will know no bounds,
for my anger will be gone forever.
I will be to Israel
like a refreshing dew from heaven.
Israel will blossom like the lily;
it will send roots deep into the soil
like the cedars in Lebanon.
Its branches will spread out like beautiful olive trees,
as fragrant as the cedars of Lebanon.
My people will again live under my shade.
They will flourish like grain and blossom like grapevines.
They will be as fragrant as the wines of Lebanon.

“O Israel, stay away from idols!
I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you.
I am like a tree that is always green;
all your fruit comes from me.”

Let those who are wise understand these things.
Let those with discernment listen carefully.
The paths of the LORD are true and right,
and righteous people live by walking in them.
But in those paths sinners stumble and fall. Hosea 14:4-9

Miracles Do Exist

2 Aug

I experienced a miracle this weekend.  An impossible thing became possible. Despair was turned to grace and joy.  All I can do is praise God for his saving powers.  Nothing is impossible; illnesses can be cured, addictions can be broken, lives can be saved, relationships can be restored.  This is not the first miracle that I have experienced. I have seen barren wombs become fertile, tumors disappear, and relationships that all thought were lost be restored. It gives you a sense of awe at how amazing things can and do  happen through faith.

Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking, and you will find.  Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives.  Everyone who seeks, finds.  And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

So if you experience something that makes you feel like you are falling into despair, like all hope is lost,  never give up, never lose faith, and always be hopeful.  I tell you the truth, God woke me from a horrible nightmare that was reality and made me new again.  He can do the same for you.
